HOW THE BAND GOT STARTED

The band started when Tom DeLonge(guitarist/vocals) went to a party one night way back around 1991-92 and met a guy named Scott Raynor (drummer). Both of them were talking about there dreams of having a successful band and thought that they should start one themselves. Tom was into a lot of punk but Scott was more of a metalhead. So Tom gave him a Descendants tape and a week later Scott had changed his ways. Now they just needed a bassist. Around this same time that Scott and Tom met, Tom's best friend was going out with Anne Hoppus, Mark's sister. After a while the two finally got introduced and discovered their same love for punk rock, bathroom humor, and girls. The three of them got together and started writing songs and playing anywhere they could. They even called high schools and told them that they were a motovational band and soon they were playing songs like "Peggy Sue" and "Fentoozler" in lunch rooms of the southern california schools.

They have toured extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Japan and Australia with bands such Pennywise and NOFX. Their hard-driving, thrash sound, suitable for surfing, skating and snowboarding scenes, has been included on Taylor Steele's surf video tours and on the 1996-99 Warped Tours.

Blink-182 released their first demo tape in 1992 titled "Flyswater" on a self-titled label. A year later they released "Buddha" their second demo. Blink-182 released their first full length album in 1994 titled "Cheshire Cat" on Cargo Records. Not long after the release of "Cheshire Cat" the band had to change their name from Blink to Blink-182 for legal reasons. In 1996 the band signed a contract with MCA Records and recorded "Dude Ranch" with hit singles such as "dammit" and "josie". After Dude Ranch, Scott left the band. I'm not sure exactly why, there a few stories, he went to back to school and another is that he went to another band. I'm pretty sure he went to another band called The Axidentals. But anyway, this is where Travis came in. He used to fill in for Scott at some of there shows and he is good friends with Mark and Tom, so it makes good sense. Enema of the State is their first album with Travis with their latest singles "Adam's Song", "All The Small Things", and "What's My Age Again" and "The Rock Show"
